Vintage Fairy Cake Cases in a Choice of Designs
Perfect retro fairy cake cases. We love to make butterfly cakes - slice the top off your fairy cake, cut in half to make a pair of 'wings' and secure in a lovey layer of butter icing!
Fairy Cakes are great for children to make as the mix is very amenable and in small enough quantity to make mixing by hand not too exhausting. I still remember the prescribed recipe for my Hostess Badge at Brownies in about 1969! - and it worked even though I couldn't resist sampling the creamed butter and sugar as a novice 8 year old baker. Yum!
Cream 2oz softened butter with 2 oz caster sugar, beat in one egg, carefully sift and fold in 4oz self raising flour adding 2 tablespooms of milk to soften the mixture.
Spoon into 12 fairy cake cases - bake at about 180C for 15 - 20 minutes, et voila, you have fairy cakes to decorate.
